In one scene, Ben (Seth Rogen) mentions that he likes Munich (2005) because 'Jews kick ass'. This was not in the script but was improvised by Rogen on the spot. However, the final film uses only one-third of the complete improvisation (not included in DVD special features). After the film was released, Steven Spielberg phoned director Judd Apatow to compliment the movie and Apatow sent him the complete uncut improvisation of the scene. Rogen would later costar with Munich's Eric Bana in Apatow's Funny People (2009).

Before Seth Rogen, Michael Cera was already starring in the role as Ben Stone until he was fired by Judd Apatow after having a disagreement on the diner scene with and showing some disrespect towards Apatow. The film had to be rescheduled and Rogen replaced Cera.
