Trivia
Lord Shen fights hand-to-hand with a martial arts style called Cai Li Fo, a Chinese martial art that normally uses a metal fan for defensive and distraction purpose. However, being a peacock, Lord Shen uses his large tail feathers for that purpose instead.

The character Shen was originally created as a devious mayor for Kung Fu Panda (2008), but was written out before production.

Even though its a fully 3D CGI animated film some 2D animation is featured, from the films opening, the flashback scenes Po has, and even just some of the ways a scene is filmed, the perspective of the characters coupled with the dynamic or balanced color "flattens" the 3D animation to form a hybrid between 3D and 2D, also a few shots such as the panning shot over the cites draws from both the way cities where portrayed in older epic films by using miniatures and models and how the early 2D Dreamworks films used CGI rendered cities and effects blended to resemble the 2D animation.

Goofs
During the flashback of Po as a baby, he goes into a pot headfirst to retrieve a vegetable. In the next scene, it shows he landed on his bottom, not on his head like he went in. If you look closely, however, you can see him move around after getting the vegetable, and that is how he ends up on his bottom.

When Po returns to his fathers restaurant after the the fight at the end, there is a mom pig and son pig that are waiting to meet Po. When Po finally comes, his father and him talk. While the two are talking, the pig family disappears and reappears between shots.

When Po is outside trying to find inner peace to distract himself, the sun appears to be behind the boat, later when they reach the city, the sun appears to be in front of the boat.

Q
Was Kung Fu Panda Filmed In Stereoscopic 3-D?
A
Yes, Kung Fu Panda was filmed in stereoscopic 3-D. The film was a full 3-D production from it's conception on through to the finished product.
Q
Is there really a white peacock like Shen?
A
Yes, the White Peacock is frequently mistaken for an albino, but it is a colour variety of Indian Blue Peacock. Its white color makes it looks really magnificent and elegant. However, since in Chinese culture white is the color of death, this marks Lord Shen as a villain.
