Trivia
Although it is never stated in the film, in the book it is know that the reason Marius knows Thénardier is because he lived next door to a man who called himself Jondrette. In the wedding scene, it is never clearly stated how Marius knows Thénardier, but it is because he recognizes Thérnardier as Jondrette.
Very near the end of the song "Stars," a shot from behind Javert shows he is facing Notre Dame and the moon is in the sky to his right. Although the moon is to his right and illuminates buildings in the background from that perspective, the light reflected off of Javert's forehead is coming from his left.
After "A Little Fall of Rain", Enjolras, who is wearing a red jacket, and another character kneel down to pick up the dying Eponine. As the shot changes, it is clear Enjolras is standing up while carrying Eponine. However, in the following shot, the other character has Eponine in his arms and Enjolras is kneeling behind Marius.
In "At the End of the Day" when all the women quickly form two rows the positioning of Fantine and the factory women standing on either side of her changes about three times.
What happened to Valjean's sister and her children, for whom he stole the bread?
A
In the novel, Valjean meets a man while imprisoned who had seen his sister in Paris. She only had one of her seven children with her, and the man suspected she didn't know where the others were. When Valjean is released, he tries to locate them but never does. In the film, he visits a grave after being released; presumably it belongs to one or some or all of his relatives.
Q
Why did Cosette have to go all the way into the forest for water?
A
According to the novel, water was rare in Montfermeil. It was necessary to fetch it from a bigger distance. During the day, people in Montfermeil paid to a special person do it, after his "working hours," they had to do it themselves (or wait until the next day).
