Samuel L. Jackson and Emilio Estevez's characters "Colt and Luger" are named after guns. William Shatner's "General Mortars" is named after an army used weapon and also loosely on the General Motors automobile company.

Goofs
When Colt and Miss Demeanor arrive at the Wilderness girls headquarters (after the Basic Instinct spoof) crew can be seen reflected in the door of the car.

When Colt is standing in the sea, smoking, the water is lapping at his knees. When he walks back onto dry land, his legs are totally dry from the ankle up, except for a small damp patch on one knee.

When Colt and Lugar first arrive at the "Squealer's Hotel" and get out of the car, the camera man and boom mic operator are visible in the window behind the two as they walk towards the other cops.

Q
Why is it called Loaded weapon 1? Why was there never a second?
A
The 1 is just a joke, as in "Naked Gun 33 1/3". It's not really the 33rd film, it's just a sequel joke. A second film was intended, which would have been part of the joke, but it was canceled due to poor box office.
