The title refers to the only way that newspapers at the time would allow a gay man's lover to be listed in an obituary.

In the poster art and DVD cover, the image of the guys walking on the beach has been altered - some might say censored. In the scene where the poster/cover image is taken from in the movie, the character "Fuzzy" is wearing an ACT-UP t-shirt that depicts two sailors kissing with the tag line that read "Read My Lips", a play on then President Bush's "Read My Lips, No New Taxes" slogan. In the cover art, the t-shirt graphic has been removed so that he only has a blank white t-shirt now. In the film scene, in contrast to the poster scene, "Fuzzy" also has shaved off his beard.

Goofs
Howard and Paul live next door to Lisa in an apartment building. In the opening scenes, Lisa and Paul each come out of their respective apartments into the hallway at the same time, establishing her apartment on the left and the boys' apartment on the right. Later in the movie, after Paul and Howard have gone out to dinner, the same apartments are filmed from the opposite side (through the outside windows), but instead of being mirrored as they should be (with the boys' apartment on the left and Lisa's on the right), Lisa's is still on the left and Howard and Paul's are still on the right.

In the segment marked "July 3, 1981" people dance to the song "Do You Wanna Funk?" by Sylvester, but this song was not released until 1982.

Willy comes out with a bottle of wine and holds it at the neck, pouring. When the camera changes for a closeup of the pouring he then holds it by the base of the bottle.

Q
Missing scenes from the feature that are seen briefly in the trailer
A
I know its not entirely uncommon for material to end up in a trailer that is later not seen in the movie, but I would just been keen to know if a longer version of this film has ever been seen anywhere? After Shauns death, the movie cuts straight to a eulogy being given at Davids funeral, however I remember seeing one version of a trailer for the film which showed David in hospital being comforted by Campbell Scotts character, which would have taken place between these two events. Just wondered if anyone ever saw this actual scene?**That scene did play, in the VHS release. (Juniorsbox)
