Despite turning down a role in this film, Corey Haim announced he would take part in a fourth installment. But he died before anything could come of the project.

The fact that Corey Haim's character Sam Emerson is continued on from a sub-plot and post-credits scene from Lost Boys: The Tribe.

The opening in which Alan and Edgar are battling vampires in the White House is directly taken from the comic book series Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs. However, in the comics it is revealed the entire story is a fabrication from Edgar whilst in this film it seems true.

The Thirst takes place after The Tribe but in the The Thirst it was noted that Michael and Star were still alive and that Edgar was on the outs with them.

Lars: We've located the nest of the vampires deep within this abandoned slaughterhouse. It's also haunted... by cannibal pirates. It's built on an ancient Indian burial ground... where they used to burn witches.
