Trivia
Intended as a sequel/spinoff of the 1955 film, it was unusual for its time by having a central character who was Asian-American. "Mia Elliott" was supposed to have been the illegitimate daughter of the leads from the film. However, storylines involving interracial romance, and also one around an illegal abortion, were too uncomfortable for the network, and in 1968 the lead writers walked and Mia's character written off the show. At that point, it was retooled and became a more standard soap opera.
