The car chase, though set in Northern France, takes place along winding canyon roads. Such roads do not exist in that part of France, which is largely flat and agricultural.
Even though the setting of the movie is contemporary, the French police and emergency services are seen to be using cars from the 60s and 70s. The cars that the French police used at the time were far more modern.
After the hijacking the tower told aircraft approaching to "circle the field." Aircraft are never told to do this. Instead they would be given specific holding pattern instructions. If the tower was telling them to do this, an airplane would likely be told to "hold (whichever direction) of the outer marker." Multiple aircraft could not do this and would have to be passed back to approach control for those instructions as to altitudes insuring a thousand feet in altitude clearance for each aircraft.
