Kingpin Films and actor Sonny Gibson filed a $4,225,000 lawsuit against producer Martin Poll and executive producer E K Gaylord III, for breach of oral contract and tortuous interference with a prospective business advantage.
Lane Frost was originally going to perform the stunts for the main character (H.D. Dalton), and his wife Kellie Kyle-Frost (now Macy) was working as stunt coordinator for the film at the time of Lane's death at the 1989 Frontier Days in Cheyenne, WY. After Lane's death, his good friend Tuff Hedeman performed the stunt work.
When HD is shaving in the mirror and his Dad is watching, he cuts himself several times, the first one in the middle of his left cheek. Afterward he is shown with bits of toilet paper stuck to the cuts, but the one on the left cheek is almost under his ear instead of where he actually cut it.
During one scene, HD and Jesse come out to the truck and find Jud waiting for them. Jud's hair has been cut and his earring is gone. "Starting to get with the program," Jesse says. In a subsequent scene HD and Virgil are jogging behind Jesse and Jud riding on the tractor. In this scene Jud has long hair again and is wearing the earring.
