A month prior to the event, Manny Pacquiao announced on national TV that ABS-CBN will have the exclusive right of the show in its Philippines broadcast. Pacquiao faxed Solar, the local production company, a letter saying he is rescinding his contract, which runs until 2011. Solar and partner GMA Network, which Solar has tied up for the coverage, assailed the Pacquiao's decision. Solar would sue Pacquiao and ABS-CBN for P150 million, or at least secure a court injunction. But Manny later recanted his statement.
