A real pork bone was used for the top of a severed hand in the film. It was cleaned, bleached, microwaved, boiled in water and still smelled bad after 2 days of use.
Filming was delayed for two weeks due to the eruption of the volcano Eyjafjallajokul. The resulting ash cloud disrupted trans-Atlantic flights, leaving director Bing Bailey and cinematographer Clayton H. Haskell unable to secure a flight from America to Ireland.
