In the scene where Tommy gives a speech at the 50th Anniversary of the CCF 1500 extras were needed to fill the auditorium, production only got 300 hundred so the scene was done in stages with the actors redoing their lines and the extras being moved to fill different sections As a result the scene took over twice as long to shoot.

The steam locomotive which turns up in several places is an original CPR Hudson which was restored in Vancouver by CP employees with the help of the company and which has crossed the country on PR tours. The second car is actually a machine shop on wheels for possible repairs enroute and would not have been part of a CP passenger train in those days. The coaches, part of the touring train, are post war and would not have been in service in the thirties or forties.

When Tommy Douglas is convincing Clarence Fines to handle his campaign for the CCF (which dates the scene to around 1943 or 1944), China is labeled a "Communist country" on the blackboard in Fines's classroom. The revolution that established the Communist Party as the government of China wasn't until 1949.
