In real life, as seen in this film, an attempt to bait the crocodile failed. The team used a live goat as bait one night, and the team continued this for days. One day the goat disappeared. The camera failed the night before due to a storm, and then political issues in the area forced the team out of the country. Leaving them unable to know what happened that night.

Errors in crocodile biology: Crocodiles don't roar, they have no vocal cords (although they do hiss). They also can't see from underwater at night, nor can they swallow underwater.

Faq

Is this movie about a crocodile or a serial killer?

Even though the main characters in the film are tracking a giant crocodile named, "Gustave", it's only half of the story. The genocide going on in Africa(where the story takes place) left many dead bodies near the river which gave Gustave an overabundant food supply. The warlord spearheading the killings calls himself, "Little Gustave" (after the crocodile) and the majority of the movie's plot is devoted to the attacks of Little Gustave's thugs and the tribulations of the African people.This movie is NOT about an independent serial killer, as the original TV commercials led many people to believe.
