Rasputin has a confrontation with irate villagers in a small hut. This is the same hut Charles and Diana Kent took refuge in in Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966).
The original ending had Rasputin's hand held up to his forehead in benediction as he lay dead on the ice. It was considered potentially blasphemous, however, and was cut from the final film. The shot can still be seen in some stills, however.
During the fight in the barn, Rasputin brings the blade down on his opponent's left arm, just below the elbow, and yet it is the right hand, cut off just above the wrist, that ends up on the floor.
Ivan has a bloody lip at the end of the film, with no explanation as to its cause. In fact, the injury was the result of an extended fight sequence, which they spent several days filming, but which was eventually cut from the finished film.
