Trivia
Robin Wright was the original choice to play Maid Marian but she had to drop out as she was pregnant with her first child. The part went instead to Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio four days before shooting started. (Wright would land the lead in The Playboys (1992) the following year because the original actress, Annette Bening, had become pregnant too.)
Bryan Adams sang a song for this movie 'Everything I do(I do it for you) which went to be the best singles of Adams maintaining position one on billboard chart for 14 weeks
Rumor has it that Kevin Costner wanted to use an English accent, but director Kevin Reynolds didn't want him to. Supposedly, Costner would affect the accent when he was arguing with Reynolds, but not when they were in agreement. Costner claims that he was initially asked to use an accent and hired a dialect coach, but this was stopped (and the coach was fired) when he did it poorly.
In the early part of the fight with the Celts, the film is reversed making it appear that Robin is shooting left handed. Obviously done so that Robin was shooting to the left where the Celts were coming from.
While rescuing the boy, Robin grabs a crossbow and throws it at one of the soldiers, "hitting" him in the face. The crossbow hits Plexiglas in front of the soldier, and leaves a scratch that is momentarily visible.
When John Little and Robin first meet at the river, John is seen from the back, holding the staff away from him. "Do you lead this rabble?". In the next shot where John replies "Yes I do, Mate.", the staff is leaned against his shoulder. But in the next shot, the staff is being held away from him again.
What are the differences between the Theatrical Version and the Extended Edition? What about the British Extended Edition? Is it uncut?
A
In 2003, there has been a re-release of this "Robin Hood"-film with a top-notch cast. The previous DVD-releases had been rather unsatisfactory. This reissue fulfills all possible wishes. The DVD offers an almost 12 minutes longer extended cut of the film. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.. Even the new Extended Edition is censored in Britain because of the PG-rating: Several of the torturing scenes were altered and of course the wedding scene. Only the British Blu-ray that has been rated BBFC 15 features an uncut print. A detailed comparison between both versions can be found here.
