Creator Monty Oum designed the world map by squirting ketchup on a napkin, scrunching it up and then unfurling it. He then used the shapes the ketchup made as inspiration for the size and shape of the land masses.

Part of the choice, made by Monty Oum, of the certain colours Red, White, Black and Yellow is the fact that they are the 4 colours that make up the RoosterTeeth logo.

All the characters of team JNPR are inspired by mythical crossdressers, Jaune being Jeanne Arc, Pyrrha being Achilles, Nora being Thor, and Ren being Mulan.
