Jennifer says she is next to die in the script of _Stab 3_, which Dewey confirms. However, when Jennifer is about to be murdered, she says "You can't kill me. I'm the killer in _Stab 3_." Jennifer is saying what she hopes will stop the killer from stabbing her. In addition, there were three versions of the script, and she might have been the killer in one of them. Also, she may have been the killer in the script and seemingly dead, but not actually dead, like Billy Loomis in Scream.

When Gale is eavesdropping on Dewey and Jennifer talking about her, when Dewey says ".. I left out the part where she's cruel and selfish" his lips clearly aren't moving.

Q
Which characters are back from the other 'Scream' films?
A
There are a total of nine characters from the first two Scream movies that reprised their characters for this film. They are: (1) Dewey Riley (David Arquette), (2) Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), (3) Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), (4) Neil Prescott (Lawrence Hecht), (5) Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy), (6) Maureen Prescott (Lynn McRee) (photograph appearance in Scream and same photo appears uncredited in Scream 2), (7) Hank Loomis (C.W. Morgan), (8) Reporter (Nancy O'Dell), and (9) Cotton Weary (Liev Schreiber).
Q
What year is 'Scream 3' set?
A
It was set around 1999. In the final scene Roman Bridger (Scott Foley) says something about going to Woodsboro and finding Maureen Prescott (Lynn McRee) "4 years ago". Scream happened in 1996, and Maureen was murdered in 1995, therefore Scream 3 must take place in 1999 as Maureen wasn't alive in 1996. Also, it was filmed in 1999 and released in February 2000.
Q
Is 'Scream 3' based on a book?
A
No. Like Scream (1996) and Scream 2 (1997) before it, all three are based on screenplays, not books. American screenwriter Ehren Kruger wrote the screenplay for Scream 3, which was followed by Scream 4 (2011)
