Trivia
For the scene in which Sil is 'born' from the cocoon, the train set was built upside down. Natasha Henstridge, totally naked and covered in KY Jelly lubricant, was pushed through the cocoon, and the shot was flipped upside down afterwards, to achieve the effect of her falling out.

An early draft of the script had the young Sil calmly killing a friendly cab driver. In an effort to keep the audiences sympathy for her character (and to make the murder of the porter more shocking) the scene was changed to Sil killing a tramp in self defense after he attempts to attack her.

In scenes of Dan talking to his therapist there is a sign on the wall in the background that at first glance is a typical "Thank You For Not Smoking" sign. On closer inspection the text actually reads "Thank You For Smoking"

Goofs
The Porter on the train is a rather large lady. Yet her uniform almost perfectly fits Sil when she leaves the train. Correction: The conductor's uniform is actually a very bad fit on Sil, just as the coat she takes from her first lover. And the clothes she initially steals before the cocoon. Besides limited choices, Sil doesn't really understand how to dress - only that she's covered.

Sil is in the process of removing the swimwear from the "hot tub guy" when the good guys show up to get her. But after she notices they arrived for her, the swim short on the guy seems to have been pulled back up to the guy's waist.

Q
How does the movie end?
A
Fitch, Dan, Press, and Laura follow Sil into the sewers. When Fitch is separated from the others, Sil kills him. Press goes deeper into the dewers in an attempt to flush her out. Dan continues to search and comes upon a small naked boy (Kurtis Burow) who has just eaten a rat. As Dan tries to coax the boy to come out, he opens his mouth and strikes at Dan with a long tongue. The boy then begins to morph into a replica of Sil, so Dan shoots him with a flame thrower, and the boy falls into a pool of oil. Suddenly Sil hops forward and pursues Dan while Laura, stuck between some rocks, screams for Press to help. Sil shoots tentacles out from her breasts in an attempt to kill Press, but he fires several bullets into her, knocking her into the oily mass of flames. Sil tries to pull Dan into the flames with her, but Press loads his gun and blows her head off. 'She was half us, half something else,' Laura comments. 'I want to know what was the predatory half.' Press simply replies, 'The dead half.' In the final scene, as Dan, Press, and Laura make their way out of the sewer, two rats meet each other. One opens his mouth and strikes the other one with his long tongue.
