The thief of the book is revealed to be the Head Abbot - a larger framed man but whenever he's masked, a slimmer double is used. Also during the finale, he's doubled by a man of different hair color.

In the Cantonese soundtrack, the blind senior monk recalls the involvement of the traitorous abbot in events occurring 20 years ago. However, the latter incidentally mentions that it happened 30 years ago. The Mandarin soundtrack is consistent, as they both say 30 years.

It was claimed the Mo Lan leader was killed using a palm technique that's only known by a senior monk. Wei Ching is also killed, but this time, we actually see a palm technique being used. The accused senior monk is proved innocent when it emerges the palm print is fake. The murderer emerges to be the abbot, but he isn't meant to know this technique, nor did he have the time to create the supposed palm print.

What are the differences between the censored French Version and the Uncensored Version?

In France, only a version cut by almost 11,5 minutes (of talking) was available at first. One could not say that anything important was removed, but it was certainly unnecessary. This version could for example be found on the 3 disk set "Jackie Chan Digipack No. 1" with two others of his early movies, which were cut as well. The more recent French reissue, however, contains the uncut version, featuring the original audio track with subtitles. This release can be seen as one of the best for this movie.
