Trivia
After production ended and the sets were dismantled, the Defiant bridge set was declared "fold & hold" and placed in storage. It was redressed and used as the bridge of an alien cargo ship and a Klingon battlecruiser on Star Trek: Voyager (1995) and the bridge of the ECS Fortunate on Star Trek: Enterprise (2001).

According to numerous episodes, time on the Deep Space Nine space station is based on the length of a standard Bajoran day, which is 26 hours.

O'Brien and later Worf were the only two regulars on a Star Trek series to be carried over from another, namely Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987).

Goofs
During the opening title sequence, the wormhole is shown at inconsistent angles to how it looks as the crew observe it from the station's windows. In the title sequence, the wormhole is angled upward at approximately a 40° angle. When the crew observes it from the station, it's pointed down at about a 260° angle.

Q
What year does this series take place in?
A
It takes place from the years 2369-2375 A.D.
Q
What's the deal with Riker and O'Brien in Season 3's "The Defiant"
A
The reason for TOM Riker's reaction to O'Brien was that he didn't want the chief to reminisce about events that took place between O'Brien and WILL Riker on board the Enterprise, as TOM Riker would have no knowledge of such events and would possibly be exposed. Giving the Chief the cold shoulder allowed Tom to go about his business without O'Brien uncovering who he really was.
Q
Are all episodes uncut in the UK and Europe?
A
Unfortunately, they aren't. This applies to the DVD releases. Due to Britain's strict policy some episodes had to be cut in order to avoid a higher rating. Because of cost-efficiency, these masters were used for nearly all European DVD releases as well. The 23rd episode of season 4 and the 3rd episode of season 6 are affected. One can find a detailed comparison for 4.23 here and for 6.03 there.
