Trivia
In the original novel, the role of Lamia is actually a rather minor one. It wasn't until Michelle Pfeiffer signed on to the project that the role was greatly expanded to become one of the main characters.

The vicious-looking scimitar-shaped glass knife that Lamia uses was originally designed by Matthew Vaughn for Magneto in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) but it was never actually used in that film.

Miramax originally had the option on 'Stardust', but after it expired, Neil Gaiman felt uncomfortable giving up the rights to the film to just anyone. After turning down numerous directors and young actresses who wanted it as a starring vehicle, Gaiman finally gave Stardust's option for free to Matthew Vaughn. This was largely due to the fact that Gaiman trusted Vaughn both as a friend and as someone "who stuck to his word," something Gaiman considered a rarity in Hollywood.

Goofs
When the king takes off the ruby necklace, he lifts it over his head without unclasping it. When Yvaine puts on the necklace, she has to unclasp it in order to fit it around her head. The necklace then rests against her collarbone; if it had remained its original length, she would have been able to slip it over her own head and it would have hung down a great deal further.

After realizing Yvaine can't cross the wall we see Tristan running down the street. One shot is of him from the front, and the dust and a tyre track (presumably from the camera rig he is chasing) is briefly visible.

When Tristan asks Yvaine if what she said about loving him was true, she becomes embarrassed and covers her mouth and nose with her hands. The next shot changes angles, and her hands are covering her entire face.

Q
Why was Yvaine's hair glowing throughout the movie?
A
Yvaine's hair was glowing throughout the movie mostly in the scenes where she is happy or with Tristan because she begins to fall in love with him. As she explains, a star with a broken heart cannot shine. Once she became happy she started to shine, hence the glow about her face and hair.
Q
Is this movie an adaptation from a novel?
A
Yes, this movie is based on the novel of the same name, Stardust. The novel was based on four comic books, written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Charles Vess, first published in 1997-98. It was collected as a novel in 1998 and was Gaiman's second solo novel. The screenplay for the film was adapted by Matthew Vaughn who also directed the film, and screenwriter Jane Goldman. According to Gaiman the film is a faithful adaption in a more compressed form, with very few differences.
Q
Why couldn't the witch Ditchwater Sal see the star?
A
When Lamia first sets out to find the star, she meets Ditchwater Sal at a bend in the road. Lamia vows not to harm Ditchwater Sal by the code of the order to which they both belong. Ditchwater Sal makes no such vow. They share a meal, and Ditchwater Sal asks Lamia what she is up to, and Lamia tells all, only to realise that she is has been fed something that forces her to tell the truth. Angered by Ditchwater Sal's connivance, but constrained by the vow, she curses Ditchwater Sal that she will never see hear or smell the star even if it is in front of her.
