One of the racing cars in the film has the word BANDIT labeled on it reminding the audience of the 'Smokey and the Bandit' movies. The car, the #33 Skoal Bandit, was driven in the movie by NASCAR driver Harry P. Gant. The car was owned at the time by Burt Reynolds and director Hal Needham. When Gant is being passed by Stroker and Aubrey in the final race, you can see the "Burt and Hal's" logo on the side of the car.

Burt Reynolds once said in 1982, about a year before this picture, that he wasn't going to make any more "car chase" movies.

Goofs
In the group of cars that routinely raced around Stroker Ace in every race was a #77, a white 1977 Monte Carlo. The movie supposedly takes place in the early 80s after NASCAR downsized the cars and this Montel Carlo would not have been legal to race in the series anymore.

The balloons released during the final Charlotte victory scene clearly do not match the balloons in the race-day aerial shot that follows.

During the Daytona 500 at the start of the film, the main grandstand is empty in some shots.
