In addition to being loosely based on a novel by Thomas Hardy, including a character who is writing a book about Hardy, and having a photograph of Hardy prominently displayed in one scene, the location filming was done in Dorset, where most of Hardy's novels are set - "Wessex" being a thinly fictionalized Dorset. The small ad for the writers' retreat that appears at the beginning of the film is also headed with the title of the novel: "Far from the Madding Crowd".
When the two girls are hiding up a tree having let down the tyres on Nicholas's Range Rover, they take a picture of him kissing Tamara. They are a good 15ft off the ground and equally far from the subjects of the picture. However, when the photo is sent to his wife's phone she looks at a picture which is clearly taken at ground level and from a few feet away (or with a very good zoom lens).
When the writers at the writers' retreat are typing their books, their keystrokes obviously have nothing to do with the text that is going through their heads.
