Will Smith's character name in the show is actually different than in real life. In the show, he is "William" Smith, in real life he's "Willard" Smith. This is referred to when one of Will's girlfriend's father calls him Williard as a joke.

Will Smith, Alfonso Ribiero, Karyn Parsons and James Avery are the only cast members to appear in every episode. (Karyn Parsons didn't have any new scenes in the episode "Love in an Elevator," but she appeared in flashback scenes, so she technically was absent from that episode only, although she did appear).

In the episode where Hillary obtains a job as a caterer there is a scene where Hillary is talking to the assembled group of her family. In this scene Will's apron disappears and reappears during shots.

In the beginning of the episode where Aunt Viv and Uncle Phil go to Palm Springs for the weekend and Will can't go, he is wearing an inner tube that is under the left arm. In the next shot it is under the right and keeps moving back and forth.

In the episode where Hilary poses for Playboy, Hilary's strap-on mic is visible on the back of her red dress when she, Will, and Carlton first enter the Playboy party. It is gone in subsequent scenes.

Will: Aunt Viv, I got the cake you wanted for the family reunion.

Will: [Hilary is showing a very skimpy bottom-only bathing suit she just bought for Arnold Schwarzenegger's pool party] Oh darn, Now Arnold will have to return his!

Will: [about the house] Yo, this is better than Love Boat! This boy gonna be maxing and relaxing.
