Trivia
When Melanie jumps through the window to escape the seekers at the beginning of the movie, she is seen falling several stories and creating a crater in the cement pavement. At the very beginning of the end credits, the camera pulls away from a planet and it is the exact crater shape as the one Melanie made when she fell.
Emily Browning, who portrays Pet in this film, was Stephenie Meyer's original choice for the role of Bella Swan in 'Twilight (I)', but she turned it down.
Although at first reported as such, this was actually not the last movie Roger Ebert reviewed before his death. As reported by Jim Emerson, the last review Ebert wrote was for Terrence Malick's _To the Wonder (2012)_. However, the Review for _The Host (2013)_ was the last review that was published before his death.
When Wanda shops in the store for the resistance, she initially is wearing dark pants with pleats in the front. Later in the same scene she is wearing pants with no pleats, that are much lighter in color than the pair previously worn.
When the humans find Melanie in the desert, the soles on both her shoes are severely worn down in front. When she arrives at their hideout, a brief shot shows the sole on her left shoe to be completely unscathed.
When Melanie/Wanda is driving the blue Volvo through the desert and struggling about which direction to go, the device that makes the car do the spontaneous flip can clearly be seen on the bottom left side of the car, just in front of the rear left wheel.
