In March 1941, Universal Pictures was distributing this film on a double bill with Trail of the Vigilantes (1940).

Margaret Sullavan, who owed Universal one picture on an old contract, was originally assigned the starring role. With more attractive roles being floated her way, she balked at appearing in the film, feeling it was beneath her. When she failed to appear for the rehearsals, the studio slapped her with a restraining order preventing her from working anywhere. Eventually she agreed to fulfill her contract by appearing in Back Street (1941) and Virginia Bruce stepped into the role.

Despite the lightweight nature of the film, it was budgeted at $300,000.00, (about twice the amount of a typical Universal B-feature of the time) making it one of the studio's most expensive productions for 1940.

When the butler trips down the stairs he throws the tray twice.

At the lodge, the invisible Kitty puts on stockings so Dick can "see" her but moments later when she faints she's completely undressed again.

When Kitty is invisible in front of Mr. Growley, her shadow can be seen on the wall.

Bill: Come on lady, be a gentleman about this!

Prof. Gibbs: [to a car] Put yourself into the garage, lazy bones!

Kitty Carroll: Well at least the stockings are dry.
