AThe characters develop as the characters in the books theyre reading.
The first book is Emma. Prudie plays the snobbish part of Emma, who could easily fall for someone like Trey, who is a version of Mr. Frank Churchill, the amiable and handsome man; Jocelyn plays Emmas matchmaking persona, while Grigg is Mr. Knightley, caring for Jocelyn secretly. The second book is Mansfield Park. The first hint on Mansfield Park is Treys play. Sylvia is Fanny Price, the good girl and perfectionist. The marriage between Sylvia and Daniel is destroyed, because of cheating as in Mansfield Park. Again Trey is Mr. Henry Crawford, the charming bachelor. With Northanger Abbey, we learn more about science fiction with Grigg. Jocelyn is a bit like Catherine Morland, fearing a relationship and again Grigg is the wealthy Henry Tilney with his light flirtations towards Jocelyn. Trey is again the bad guy John Thorpe. The fourth book is then Pride & Prejudice. Jocelyn and Grigg represent Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Jocelyn is proud and wont admit that she is really jealous. Grigg understands her. Jocelyn always brings Sylvia to the conversation, like Elizabeth refusing Darcys proposal, because of her sister Jane and Wickham, never thinking about her own feelings. And there is always the dance. Allegra shows also a bit of Lydia Bennet, loving Carine too fast. The fifth one is Sense and Sensibility. Prudies relation with Trey represents Mariannes and Willoughbys relation. It is excessively romantic though not meant to be. Grigg is Colonel Brandon, loving from afar, though everybody knows his real feelings. Elinor Dashwood and Edward Ferrars are Sylvia and Daniel, after Robert Ferrars marries Lucy Steele. Allegra also shows Mariannes characteristics: rash and always needs some taking care of. Prudie is a bit of both she is between sense and sensibility. The final book is Persuasion. It takes place in the beach like the book clubs meeting. Daniel sends a letter, Jocelyn as Anne gives in as does Dean. They act righteously and it all ends with a happy ending.
