Second of two 1980s comedies from the 20th Century Fox studio which featured violinist characters. The first movie had been the previous year's Unfaithfully Yours (1984). The violinists were played by Tom Hanks in this film and Armand Assante in the earlier movie. Both pictures were remakes. Moreover, The Man with One Red Shoe (1985) co-star Lori Singer in real-life is a classically trained cellist.
Two color changes were made for this American version of the French comedy "The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe" (The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe (1972)). The shoe went from being black to red whilst the blond man became a dark brown haired Tom Hanks.
