Trivia
Katt Shea took on the role of director after Robert Mandel quit over creative differences. Only Shea's name is listed as director in the opening credits.

Sissy Spacek was offered a cameo in this sequel to Carrie (1976) but turned it down. She did, however, give Katt Shea permission to use some of her scenes from Carrie for flashbacks.

When Mark's party first starts kicking off, the jock character Chuck begins predictably roaming around with his camera on the party-goers. When he sees a guy throwing some liquid substance into the expensive pool, he puts the camera down long enough to warn him that if he breaks anything in the house, heads are going to roll. This statement turned out to be a terrible prediction: when Rachel's powers broke loose, almost everything in the house was broken and Chuck was decapitated instantly when the massive amounts of glass in the sliding doors shattered.

Goofs
Emily Bergl's stunt-double is visible near the end when the burning beam falls on Rachel and in the subsequent shot where Jesse tries to remove the beam.

Rachel is supposed to be Carrie White's sister but Carrie was much older than Rachel. No reference is made that she had relations with Ralph White after the Birth of Carrie. Too many years are between Carrie and Rachel.

The first time we see the tape of Rachel and Jesse having sex (during the party on the large TV screens), the shot is from the right side of the bed (the bed header is to the right). Later on, when we see the tape again (Rachel hears when Jesse say he loves her, playing the tape and rewinding it several times, increasing the zoom each time), the shot has moved to the opposite side of the bed (similar in location to where the camera is located right after that scene took place when we first see him tell her he loves her).
