Trivia
When Dolph Lundgren approached Nu Image films with the wish of directing a second movie, Nu Image agreed, as long as two rules were followed: Lundgren must play the leading man, and the movie must incorporate locations under ownership of Nu image. This second rule meant Lundgren had to write the entire script based fully on the locations given to him by Nu image.

Replaced "The Controller", another project pre-sold by Nu Image with Dolph Lundgren and to be directed by Sidney J. Furie (with whom they had made "Detention and "Direct Action"). The movie was never produced but "The Mechanik" was released as "Controller" in Greece and is sometimes listed as such whe it airs on TV.

In the beginning of the movie, the bad guys pull into the village. The license plate says LOH (In Cyrillic). Loosely translated, it means a**hole in Russian.

Goofs
When Nikolai escaped with the bike, he escapes alongside a canal. In the next shot he is clearly driving that same road in reverse, only the camera's point of view is different. All the buildings are the same.

In some scenes the registrations of the cars are Russian, in others they are Bulgarian.
