Trivia
Although top-billed, Sidney Poitier and Anne Bancroft don't appear on screen together in a single scene. Bancroft later repeated this odd accomplishment when she and Anthony Hopkins co-starred, but played no scenes together, in 84 Charing Cross Road.

During the opening sequence of the film, there's a view of a man piloting a boat, and the boat's name is "Silliphant," which is a reference to the writer of the film, Stirling Silliphant.

Goofs
During the opening titles, in the opening scene where the camera zooms from an aerial shot onto Anne Bancroft, The fountain in the film is played backwards. The water flows up from the bottom of the fountain up to the top and back down into where the water spout appears from. After the aerial shot scene change, the water then runs in the correct direction.

At the end, when the crisis team is listening to the phone monitor, the sound of the rescuers on the other end can be heard knocking, then pounding and breaking in the door. The entering policeman is on the phone before the sound of the single door smash is finished; sounding as if he had entered the room and (rather than checking on Bancroft) found the phone, picked it up and spoke, even before he broke in.
