This movie was made approximately one year shy of a decade after Jackie Collins' source novel 'The Stud' was first published in 1969. This picture's production stated that the novel had been "too hot too handle" and that it had taken a number of years for public attitudes towards sex to relax enough for this movie to be made.
The famous swimming-pool orgy sequence set in Paris, France was actually filmed at 'The Sanctuary', a private women's health and spa club in Covent Garden, London. It is still open and functioning there today.
When he expressed interest in starring in films, a copy of the script was sent to singer Tom Jones with the idea of casting him as Tony Blake. He turned the role down when he discovered the sexual nature of the movie. Jones once said of Jackie Collins' novel, 'The Stud': "I was shocked!"
