The Mercedes convertible used in the film was the personal car of S. Bryan Hickox. Saving the production the cost of a rental, he later regretted allowing filming using his car, because of the camera mounting frames denting the car's surface. Picture cars were not provided free to film companies, usually costing expensive daily rates. Bryan never got the fine auto's dents removed nor pounded out, nor a paint job.

Originally planned as the first in a series of contemporary portraits of the Ten Commandments, but after the second film Thou Shalt Not Kill (1982), the project was abandoned.

The golf course and locations were scheduled for filming in Hawaii until the teamsters struck the production company; whereupon, the entire cast and crew returned to LA. The Ojai Golf and Country Club replaced the Hawaiian Golf Course; the hotel suite filmed at the Ojai Country Club was duplicated on a Paramount Sound Stage to film intimate bedroom night scenes; Studio City residential homes and streets were filmed for additional locations, which were scouted and selected after returning the company from Hawaii.
