Trivia
The Decepticons' camp is seen to be in Tanzania, Africa. This location is a homage to Beast Wars: Transformers (1996), where the Maximals and Predacons crash-landed in Africa.

Patrick Dempsey was cast by chance after bumping into Michael Bay at a Ferrari launch event in Los Angeles. Bay was still looking for someone to play Dylan and asked if Dempsey would accept the role. He agreed, mainly (he was quoted) because he has never worked on big budget movie. Bay then told him to come early on the set the next day.

Starscream meets his end by having an explosive in his eye, which blows his head off. This was based on the comic 'G.I. Joe vs Transformers', where the ninja Snake-Eyes cut out Starscream's eye and stuck an explosive into the cavity (there it didn't kill him though).

Goofs
As the Ark is on the far side of the moon, Earth shouldn't be visible from there, but while the astronauts approach it to investigate a "cresent Earth", it is clearly visible on the top-right hand side of the frame.

When Sentinel reveals his deal with Megatron and kills Ironhide, his rusting gun changes sides back and forth. When he shoots Ironhide for the first time it's on his right hand, the second time it's on his left. When he starts shooting randomly to the NEST team and the headquarters, it is on his right hand, and while he transforms into his alternate mode he is shooting with his left hand.

When Sam and Dylan are fighting on top of some rubble, the clock on the building behind them changes time from scene to scene. In the first shot it's 10:40h, in the next 1:00h and in the last shot 11:05h.

Q
How did Sam and Carly start dating? What happened with Mikaela?
A
Fans may have to forgive the reasons for Mikaela not being given any elaboration in this film due to Megan Fox's abrupt departure from the film. It is simply stated that Mikaela dumped Sam so Sam moved on. Sam met Carly when she was working for the British Embassy and was at the White House when Sam was awarded a medal by President Obama. They met, obviously clicked (having saved the world twice and being awarded a medal by the Prez obviously helped) and started dating. This was likely within the first few months after Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Q
Why isn't Megan Fox in this?
A
Michael Bay stated that it was Megan Fox's name-calling and criticism of Bay that got her fired. But not by Michael Bay himself, by Executive Producer Steven Spielberg who was quite upset about Fox's "Hitler" comments directed at Bay. Details can be found Here
Q
How is it that Sentinel Prime is featured in the movie if it was declared in Revenge of the Fallen that Optimus was the last Prime?
A
Sentinel Prime preceded Optimus, making Optimus the last prime. As to why Sentinel was of no concern to The Fallen, Sentinel had been in stasis lock (a.k.a, a coma)for many years, leaving him anything but a threat to The Fallen.
