The race of vampires is known as Methuselahs. In the Bible, Methuselah was famous for his long life (he lived to be 969 years old); this alludes to the vampires' longevity.

The abrupt end to the saga (Esther is crowned the Queen of Albion, Abel and Ion set off in search of Cain) occurred due to the untimely passing of creator Sunao Yoshida.

Cain Nightroad, as leader of the Rosenkreuz Orden, holds the German titles of "Mein Herr" ("My Lord") and "Contra Mundi" ("Against the World"), which are shortened versions of his full title "Mein Herr Contra Mundi" ("My Lord Against the World").
