Trivia
The nightclub that Scarlett Johansson gets pulled into is Club Earth in Livingston, West Lothian. Although the exterior shots & many of the interior shots are of the actual club, her escape route & scene in the toilet corridor seem to have been filmed elsewhere.

Goofs
Laura parks the van beside the fogged road and is then shown walking away from inside the cab. Though she is walking away in extremely dense fog, the driver's wing mirror (which remains in shot) shows that there is no fog to the rear the van.

When Laura is walking down the street before she trips, you can see reflections of a crew member in a high-vis vest helping the camera follow her down the street.

When Laura first gets in the van at the flats, she doesn't shift gears at any point. Her left hand is seen on the wheel even though the engine can be heard changing. As she turn in front of the stadium, you can see it's a manual transmission transit van.

Q
Does the plot of the film follow the book closely?
A
No. The film is actually very little like the novel. The basic premise is the same and some of the themes are carried onto the film, but much of the plot is unlike its source material. Jonathan Glazer described the movie as having a sort of "spiritual connection" to the book; for example, in the book, the woman gets into a car accident and self-destructs, causing her ashes to fly into the air and join with the earth, but in the movie, she is almost raped and is then murdered, her ashes also flying into the sky. Also, in the book, the aliens are described to resemble canines in appearance, while in the movie, they are humanoids with almost no features and onyx black skin.
