When Dennis Quaid first met the real-life Sheriff Ralph Lamb he was set to portray in the TV series, both men took an instant liking to each other and learned that they both shared the same birth-date and shoe size. Hence, Quaid was able to wear Lamb's actual boots for the portrayal of his character.
Kathleen Detoro, costume designer for the series, found a turquoise ring specially for Carrie-Anne Moss and gave it to her. Moss liked the ring so much that she has been wearing it all the time on the set and on her scenes if you look closely at her hands, you can see the ring.
The lead character of Ralph Lamb, portrayed by Dennis Quaid, is based on real life Sheriff Ralph Lamb, age 85 (as of September 2012 premiere date), who served in that office from 1961-1979, and who is a consultant on the series.
Was Robert DeNiro associated with the creation or production of the series Vegas?
A
Nope. There is a tangential link in that the show was created by Nicholas Pileggi, who wrote the DeNiro projects Goodfellas and Casino but DeNiro was not directly involved.
