Trivia
The list of telephone prefixes given to David by the telephone company include 767 and 936. 767-xxxx would give the correct time while 936-xxxx gave the weather.

The red, white and blue helicopter in the first external NORAD scene is a classic Bell 206 JetRanger.

The dual 8-inch floppy drive is an IMSAI FDC-2, the monitor is a 17-inch Electrohome, the keyboard is an IMSAI IKB-1, and the 1200 baud modem (on top of the monitor) is a Cermetek 212A relabeled with the name "IMSAI". The acoustic coupler prop was added for visual effect only.

Goofs
At the end of the movie, the camera angle shows Falken's face as you hear him type two words: "Hello Joshua." But when we see the giant screen above the floor at NORAD, only the word "Hello" appears.

After David hangs up the modem, disconnecting from the WOPR, his screen is shown with the game countdown continuing. Actually, in the 80's when a remote terminal was being used to connect to another computer, screen updates such as this halted when the call was disconnected, the countdown would have "frozen" on David's screen (continuing only on the WOPR).

When David first places the phone receiver on the modem he puts it on with the cord to the front; all other times he puts it on with the cord to the back. At all times he activates it by the button on the front.

Q
What's the video game that David is playing at the arcade when he's late for school?
A
It's called Galaga, an early 80s arcade game. The objective is to advance through many levels by using a fighter craft to destroy alien invaders and to score a high hit percentage vs the number of shots you fire. More info on the game is here.
Q
How did David manage to connect with such a secure defense system computer like "Joshua", aka the WOPR?
A
There's a brief moment in the film where McKittrick's programming team are talking with the government officials about how David did it: somehow a phone line got "crossed" in Sunnyvale, California, the same city where Protovision's headquarters were, which is the same company that David was trying to hack into to find out more about their new lineup of games coming out soon. One of McKittrick's team has a quick line where he says "... the phone company screwed up!!"
Q
Why was David letting his computer dial so many random numbers in the Sunnyvale area?
A
In addition to looking for Protovision, David was looking for other businesses in the area that could be useful in his hacking. As we see, while Jennifer looks on, he finds a bank & Pan American airlines, which he immediately hacks into and makes a reservation for himself and Jennifer on a future flight. When Jennifer points out that dialing so many long-distance numbers can be expensive, David is unconcerned because he probably already knows how to erase the call records in the phone company's system.
