Where is the programme filmed?

Waterloo Road School is actually a recently-closed school in Rochdale. Formerly Thornham Middle School, and later Hill Top Primary School. The latter closed in 2005, with the school being used as the setting for the drama from that summer. As of 2012 filming moved to Greenock, Scotland taking over the former Greenock Academy school building.
