Trivia
Sean Bean is known for in real life being, like his character Jimmy Muir, a massive Sheffield United Football Club fan.

Joe Elliot, the lead singer of UK rock band Def Leppard (who were formed in Sheffield in 1978), was asked to audition for the role of Sean Bean's brother in the film but couldn't due to other commitments. Instead he penned two tunes for the soundtrack. "When Saturday Comes" and "Jimmys' Theme".

Mel Sterland, who in this film plays the captain of Sheffield United Football Club, was formerly a professional football player with their local rivals, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club.

Goofs
All premiership footballers have their surnames listed on the backs of their shirts. This was not evident when Sheffield Utd played Manchester Utd, even if it was a cup game.

After seeing the image of his dead brother in the crowd, Jimmy heads on a Mel Sterland long ball, which appears to be crossed from the half-way line or even further into Sheffield United's half. Mel Sterland somehow travels the distance of the pitch to score an almost implausible one-two.

As already explained, the FA Cup Semi-Final should be played at a neutral venue and not at the home ground of Sheffield United - as in the film. However, there is also the alarming fact that the April Semi-Final takes place in mid-winter. This is due to the footage from the 'real game' actually being an FA Cup 3rd tie in Janurary, 1995.
