"Guy" takes a veer off the highway and when "girl" protests, he tells her it's a "scenic detour". After further objection from her, he tells her it's a "shortcut". Very seldom is a scenic detour a shortcut.
After the first time the Girl tapes over the gap in the car window she sees a ghost outside the car, they cut to the inside of the car and the tape over the gap is missing.
While in the car the radio announcer says, "The National Weather Service in Harrisburg has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Eastern Seaboard..." There is no National Weather Service bureau located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and even if there was they wouldn't issue a storm warning covering the entire Eastern Seaboard.
Who is the hooded figure whose foot-long green tongue appears, and which then thrashes about dying in the snow?
A
He was one of the (excuse me here) "niggers hauling booze across state lines" that the cop mentions. You hear the hooded man mumbling, "Officer, please don't put me in the river" & then the snow plow guy at the end says the cop had been terrorizing people for years in that stretch of road & that afterward they would never be seen again. So, it's implied, but he was obviously not a priest. You see the hooded man's hands & feet tied & bound with something as he's shuffling across the bridge, & then as he turns you can see he's all bloated - as if he died in water. And his "tongue" was an eel.
