Magneto ending up a normal human and Wolverine's snide comment ("I'm..." "One of them?") is a tribute to the "X-Men" storyline 'House of M', which ended with Magneto rendered human with Wolverine stating he deserves "every second of his crap sapien life."

The design of Cyclops and Jean Grey's tombstones is taken from the "X-Men" storyline 'Days of Future Past', where the X-Men's gravestones were in a similar deco (The X symbol with the member name below).

When Professor Xavier and Magneto enter Jean Grey's old house and find her sitting on a chair, items in the room are levitated around her. When the items drop, the bookcase over her right shoulder hits the ground and all the books fall off, the lamp on top remains on. In a later shot the books are back in the book case and the lamp is on the floor.

Q
Is 'X-Men: The Last Stand' based on a book?
A
X-Men: The Last Stand is the third movie in the X-Men film series, which is based on the Marvel comic book series X-Men created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, preceded by X-Men (2000) and X2 (2003) and followed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and X-Men: First Class (2011). The film's script is loosely based on two X-Men comic books stories: 'The Dark Phoenix Saga' and 'Gifted'. The screenplay was written by American screenwriters Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn. X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled for release in 2014.
Q
How did Jean survive the devastating flood in 'X2'?
A
Xavier explains that the only way she could have survived was that her powers wrapped her in a cocoon of telekinetic energy. Unfortunately, it comes with a price. It appears to have awakened her subconscious mind and unleashed the uncontrolled, instinctual side of her called the Phoenix.
Q
Why was Kitty Pryde played by a different actress in each X-Men film?
A
In the first film, she was played by Sumela Kay, in the second by Katie Stuart, and in the third by Ellen Page. In the first and second, her appearances were very brief and did not require very experienced actors. However, her role was bigger in X-Men: The Last Stand, so a more experienced actor was needed.
