The dialogue was written so that the character's names would never be revealed - until the end credits.

All the clothing in the film was designed by Calvin Klein. He donated it all after being asked by supermodel Christy Turlington, who was then dating the film's star, Jason Patric.

We learn on the end credits that all of the characters have similar sounding names.
