Hilary Swank and Tom Wilkinson, in one of the pre-Cannes move, had come over for a board ‘Denial’ and this story is based on the book, “History on Trial: My Day in Court With a Holocaust Denier”, written by Deborah E. Lipstadt.
Along with the BBC Films, Participant Media moved ahead with the project work, and they are all discussion about the co-finance process. The handling international sales section will be handled by Alison Thompson and will also be the one to initiate “Denial” at Cannes.
The book has been adapted by David Hare (“The Reader”). The story recounts the legal battle between David Irving and Lipstadt, and he had indicted her of vilification the moment she declared him as a Holocaust denier. Since a saddle of proof has always been set forth by the English legal system, Lipstadt together with her legal team has to move ahead and saw proof that the Holocaust did take place and Irving had maneuvered with data thus ending up destroying all proof about the history which had taken place.
