Old Joe's check was apparently for $270,450, although the cursive total is partially covered by a thumb and the digits are off screen. (If you have zoom and freeze frame you can see the first part of the cursive writing when she first starts opening the check.) The amount was obscured on purpose through these methods and quick editing, according to the DVD commentary, in order to help avoid making the film seem dated in any way. The prop department, however, never did get the check quite right; Joe's address on the check is seen as "Box 12, Rural RT. 83, Southern USA."
When Joe orders his lunch, he distinctly asks for two glasses of water with no ice to be brought to the table before the orange juice and the meal. However, when Jenna brings two glasses of water, one orange juice, pie and tomato, Joe complains about the ice, and the fact that Jenna did not bring salt and pepper to the table - but does not criticize the fact that Jenna brought the whole order together, rather than separately as he had instructed.
When Jenna is making Dawn's "Falling In Love" chocolate mousse pie, the sun is pouring in from the window behind her. The previous shot established it was already night.
When the doctor is dropping Jenna off at work right after their first passionate kissing, Jenna has lipstick all over her face, but his is perfectly clean.
Dawn: They are poems that just occur to him on the spot. Last night he said to me, "Dawn, your face is a brilliant moon in my empty room. Your love is like a beating drum. Ba bum ba bum ba bum ba bum."
